The Five Precepts of Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word representing universal life energy, the energy which is all around us. It is derived from rei, meaning “free passage” or “transcendental spirit” and ki, meaning “vital life force energy” or universal life energy.”

Reiki is an ancient Eastern healing art, which stems from spiritual disciplines practiced by Tibetan Monks.  These practices were developed thousands of years ago. The unique aspect of Reiki is that all healing lies within the recipient and the recipient can choose to accept this healing or not.

Reiki is a simple transfer of energy (which comes from the universe) through the therapist’s hands, to you. You act as a partner in the experience by drawing energy through the trained therapist to yourself.  Clients receiving Reiki report a full spectrum of sensations ranging from cold to hot, calming to energizing with profoundly spiritual or deep emotional releases.  Almost everyone enjoys a deep sense of relaxation with healing oriented Integrative Medicine.

Reiki energy has several basic effects, it brings about deep relaxation, eliminates energy blockages (much the same way acupuncture does), detoxifies the systems, provides new vitality in the form of healing universal life energy and increases the vibrational frequency of the body.

Interestingly, Reiki is an intelligent energy and knows where to go and what to do.  Once you accept the flow of Reiki and begin drawing it through the therapist, neither the therapist or you need to direct it.  Therefore it is fool proof, for all we fools need to do is get out of the way.
